Citizens General Hospital For Sale
Posted by Kristyn Siwiec in Special Purpose
Once the keystone of New Kensington, Citizens General Hospital is now being marketed for sale. Starting in 1912 as a small, private hospital, Citizens expanded with the growth of New Kensington; with various additions to the building and departments being added as medical technology grew. As need for a hospital the size of Citizens waned and the increased desire for smaller, neighborhood hospitals grew, the need for Citizens to close their doors became apparent. Now, HannaLWE has been hired by the Board of Directors at Citizens General to find a new owner for the property. Located in a Federal Qualified Opportunity Zone, the 239,408 SF building sits on 2.1 acres in the heart of New Kensington. “New Ken” is going through a bit of a rebirth itself, with it’s main street, 5th Avenue, the hot spot for new retailers, restaurants, a brewery, and tech spaces all jumping on board the revitalization train. The hospital’s location, size, and Opportunity Zone designation makes for an intriguing opportunity for the right developer.
